The Live CD List (Get Rid of Windows FREE)

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

This means less viruses and less trouble with malicious software!

How many times have you gotten tired of dealing with your Microsoft Windows machine and wanted something different? Let me tell ya, this guy has had that happen so many times. Ever go to a site and ever since you been to that site, now you have pop-ups? Yup me too!

SPECIAL NOTE: Viruses and Malicious software will not harm, or I should say, is less likely, to harm a Linux machine only because there are so many computers running Windows, HACKERS like mass destruction. Think of it like this: Out of 100 computers, 95 computers have Microsoft Windows. The other 5 have Linux. Hackers want to cause trouble for 95% of the computer population. There is just no fun when only 5% is affected. Running a linux machine will enable the end user to have more sleep at night rather than being up all night stressing about the cost of fixing the home computer.

If you are interested in trying something new, here is what you can do. AND, it is perfectly legal. There is a site called livecdlist.org and it will literally list hundreds of what is called LiveCDs, LiveDVDs, and LiveUSB titles. Titles in this case meaning the different type of operating systems. Majority of them are a form of Linux. I have used this site before and it worked out well for me.

Here is what you do. Go to the livecdlist.org website and download any one of them. Majority of the time, you will have to burn the ISO image to a CD or DVD via burner software. Shutdown you computer, put the CD/DVD in your drive, ensure that you are able to boot from cd drive, then turn computer on and see the new operating system in action. This action does not install anything over your current Windows installation. You do have to option to do so.

I would use another drive to do this. Just incase you don’t like the finish product.

Here is a screenshot of the website that was taken on the 24th of September.

Damn As My Luck Would Have It

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

As my luck would have it. I am on my way in from the car to go into the Verizon store so I could pick up a case for my phone. Now let me remind you that the case for the Droid 3 are very new since they did not get released when the phone did several months ago.

I bought me a case, as I was on my way back into the store, what does retard do… YUP! You guessed it. I damn dropped my phone. I thought nothing of it. I have dropped my phone so many times and nothing happen… but my luck… after the store rep and a good friend saw me drop my phone… they both started laughing.

I casually picked up the phone and did the quick head check to see if anybody else noticed the do-do bird droppping his phone. Yup. They did and trust me, they were laughing right at me!

It was all funny. I gave him my phone and then he said, “Did you just do this?” I wasn’t really sure what he was talking about at first. Then he showed me. MY SCREEN WAS SHATTERED!

The good news, I have insurance on the phone. The bad news, the insurance plan has a $99 deductible to start the claim and get a new phone. What the hell? I will be posting the picture at some point.

Get this. After I dropped the phone and shattered the screen, the Verizon Rep actaully asked me, “Umm… do you still want this phone case?” After we were all laughing about it, I realized that there was nothing that we could do about the screen. So I told him that I would take my newly purchases phone protector screen.

I don’t know. Sometimes my luck sucks!

Verizon Wireless: Corporate vs Third Party

Monday, September 19th, 2011

I talk very highly regarding the services of Verizon Wireless. However, there are those people that express their every discontent with Verizon. I ask a few questions and I found out that, technically, it was not a Verizon store that did them wrong. It was simply a third party store that apparently doesn’t how to treat the typical Verizon customer.

When walking into a “Verizon” store, there are several things you want to take note on. I am going to provide to you, a few ways that you can tell if a Verizon store is either a corporate store or a third party store. These clues are normally legit for other providers such as Sprint, Alltell, and AT&T.

A list of things to look for:

  1. Store Sign: Prior to walking into the store, take a look at the name of the store. Normally, it will have “Verizon Wireless” as the sign. But there are two versions of this sign. The first being ONLY “Verizon Wireless”. The other being “Verizon Wireless” and underneath it will say words like, “Premium Retailer”. Something along those lines.
  2. Name Tags: As you walk in, you should be greeted by a representative. Take a look at the name badges. If it says anything other than “Verizon Wireless”, you maybe dealing with a third party store. You can also ask the representative if they are corporate. If they reply with an attitude, it’s probably a third party store.
  3. Phone Displays: Scan the phone displays. Keep in mind, that all corporate stores or kiosks normally have live phones (meaning the phones are assigned numbers and are fully functional). The third party stores normally utilize the dummy phones (phones are plastic models and have no function whatsoever).
  4. Phone Usage by Representatives: Chances are you have heard them answer the phone with this opening line, “Thank you for calling Verizon Wireless.” Now, if you are unsure if this is a corporate store, listen to how they answer the phone. A third party store will normally answer their phones with the name of the business. However, I have also heard answer the phone with “Verizon. This is Daniel. How can I help you?”
  5. Phone Contact: If the representative helping you picks up the phone and starts to yapping with somebody, in general, this should be a big indicator. For example: If he or she has to access your account, they would have to call Verizon and deal with in over the phone. The last time I checked, third-party stores limited to what they can handle on your account. I am not sure to how true this still is.
  6. Charging Your Account: As far as I know, if you buy a phone, add a line, or even buy accessories, only the corporate locations are able to charge the total to your account. This can be useful if you have a need/want to fullfil but don’t quite have the money yet. Always nice. A third-party store can only cash you out, meaning you buy the items/phones then and there. They are not authorized to charge your account.
Corporate Verizon Wireless Store

Corporate Store: Notice the Logo of Verizon has no other information like the photo below does.

Third Party Verizon Wireless Store

Third-Party Store: Notice the Wireless Zone and Premium Retailer under the Verizon Logo.

NOTE: If you go to http://maps.google.com and type in “Verizon” or “Verizon Wireless” you are going to come up with all kinds of stores.

Just keep in mind that if you are looking to find a corporate store, feel free to call them and ask them if they are a corporate location or not. Don’t be afraid to do this. Honestly, I would much rather deal with a corporate store for these reasons alone:

  • Charging Your Account: As I have said a little earlier, to my knowledge, the third-party locations are unable to charge to your account. This is only a corporate store “can-do”.
  • Customer Service: I am not speaking to all third-party locations, however, a few of them did me wrong. Customer Service at a corporate location is going to be a lot better for the simple fact that they want the customer to be completely happy. Now, they, meaning Verizon, will not feed into the stupid materialistic behavior. But, Verizon will take damn good care of their customers.
  • Dummy Phones: Are you serious? I want a new phone and I want to see how it functions. How am I going to go into a store and play with a plastic body of a phone that has sticker on the face and lkike what I see? This is almost like going to a car dealership and walking in only to see life size plastic care! Seriously!
  • Small Charges Add Up: Third-Party locations tend to charge the user to copy a phonebook or back a phonebook up. They also tend to charge the user for PAYING A BILL! Seriously. I have seen it first hand. This is actually the initial reason why I started looking into the differences of corporate vs third-party stores. I was standing next to accessories in a store located in Findlay, OH when I overheard a customer say that she had to pay for her bill. The representative said, “Ok. No problem.” As he got the customer’s billing information, he said the total for the bill and then tacked on another $5.00 for paying her bill. For example: A bill due amount was $100.00. After theytack on the little $5.00 charge to pay the bill there, the total was $105.00. Some would say that it is just a minimal fee for taking payment. Let’s think about this.

You have company provide you with cell phone service. You go to pay said company’s bill. But, you have to pay said company an additional $5.00 to pay your bill. Why? Because the payment is not going to Verizon directly. You are having a third-party store pay the bill for you and for the convience of doing so, just cost the customer $5.00. No ice cream cone for you!

WTF Soulja Boy Disrespects Army Soldiers

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

It was a couple of days ago when I was told about this level of disrespect that was displayed by Soulja Boy. If you don’t know who he is, he is a Rapper. He had songs like “Crank That” and “Kiss Me Through The Phone” that were pretty good. I am not sure if it was because of his fame and fortune he accidentally drank a glass of STUPIDITY or what… but damn! I can deal with “Fuck the FBI”… but seriously. “Fuck The Army Troops!” WTF Re-Re. I am going to agree with Michael Hobbs on this one.

As a Soldier in the Army, it is expected that everybody is Army Strong. Army Strong, as of a month or so ago when I last checked, was over a million strong. Hey Soulja Boy… You might be fucking with the wrong RODEO!

If you want to listen to Soulja Boy’s whack ass rap, as it was called by a few of America’s USMC Devil Dogs, you can YouTube.com and search for “Soulja Boy Let’s Be Real” without the quotes. I, personally, listened to it once and I stopped it after I heard “FUCK THE ARMY TROOPS.” On this post towards the bottom, please take a little listen to the song. Let me break it down for you.

The first part is of Soulja Boy “Rapping”. Once you get to the Army Troops part, you will hear the record scratch. Then, Michael Hobbs will give you his rebuttal. This should go platinum. It is friggin awesome!

Respect Thy Elderly

Monday, September 12th, 2011

I just pulled up to O’Reily’s Auto Parts in Springfield, OH when I noticed this charming elderly lady getting out of her car. I asked her, “Good afternoon Ma’am. How is your day going?”

She replied, “I am doing good. Thank you for asking.”

I held the door for her so she could enter the store and then I made my way to the car cleaning products. I was on the search for some dashboard cleaning supplies. It was not a second later when I heard one of the store clerks ask this elderly lady, “What do ya need?”

The next thing I heard was this elderly woman saying, “Excuse ME! I am a WOMAN and you DO NOT acknowledge a woman like that. That is something you say to a man. You would address a woman like this: “Good afternoon Ma’am. What can I help you with today?”

She was going ballistic on this store clerk. Then he started to laugh at her. I was annoyed at that. She didn’t give any care in the world. This AWESOME old lady gave it to him straight from home even after he started laughing. I was proud of her! At first, when I heard him say this, I thought he was talking to me. No big deal, at least I thought it wasn’t. Boy oh boy! This is a rough ride for him. After he realized that she was not joking, he cleaned up his act and helped her in a more professional manner.

Let this be a lesson for some of you out there. Some woman are big on the respect issue. Trust me. I learned something that day too. I learned that Some woman don’t ever loose that edge. I couldn’t imagine how she was in her younger years.

YouTube’s DeStorm

Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

Somebody said to me one day, “Hey, you wanna see something really cool?”

Of course, I replied with, “Sure.”

Normally, tell me if I’m wrong, if somebody asks you if you want to see something cool and youtube is involved somehow, you are more than likely not going to be highly impressed. In fact, majority of the time, you will wonder why you agreed to loose X amount of minutes of your life to stupidity. Not to mention the MAJOR loss of IQ points in the process.

Anyways, when I watched this Artist… DeStorm, I WAS A-FU__ING-MAZED! This is a true work of art! All of his material is phenominal.

Everything ranging from the Backwards Rap (Nucking Futs) to his beatboxing with Lion King and Bon Jovi – It’s My Life. This guy is simply amazing. There are also several artists that he works with all the time and I will be putting them up here soon. Please look back soon for some of there videos and/or links.

Here are just a few of his videos that I personally like:
